Police warned to refrain from corrupt activities

The police in the Middelburg Cluster are appealing to anyone who may have fallen victim to police complicity in anyway to come forth and report.

MIDDLEBURG – The police management in Mpumalanga led by Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant-General Mondli Zuma hereby caution members of the South African Police Services (SAPS) to refrain from corrupt activities.

The warning comes after a  constable, December John Phoku, was arrested and remanded in custody when he appeared for allegations of corruption at the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday February 10.

Phoku, who is stationed at the Mhluzi SAPS Detectives, was arrested last week, following an investigation which was launched by the SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit.  It is alleged that during last year December, Phoku solicited a bribe from a man who was found with an alleged jamming device.
