Police on the manhunt for poachers

Six fresh rhino horns were found stashed in a cooler box left unattended in an unoccupied house.

HAZYVIEW – Mpumalanga police are looking for unknown suspects involved in the poaching of three rhinos.

On Saturday police received information about a vehicle suspected of ferrying illegal items around Hazyview, however, when the vehicle was stopped and searched, nothing was found.

The White River K9 unit, Crime Intelligence and the Tactical Response Team continued to search the surroundings where the suspected vehicle was located.

“Six fresh rhino horns were found stashed in a cooler box left unattended in an unoccupied house. No arrests were made so far for this ruthless and senseless killing of the rhinos,” explained Brig Leonard Hlathi.
