Police arrest two men for card skimming

The suspects were pretending to assist the unsuspecting complainant from an ATM when they exchanged the complainant’s card which was later found in trousers of one of them.

WITBANK – Police are warning bank card users to be extra careful when withdrawing money from any ATM this festive season.

This comes after two suspects aged 33 and 43 years were arrested in connection with card skimming also known as card swapping from an ABSA ATM in Witbank.

It is alleged that the suspects were pretending to assist the unsuspecting complainant from an ATM when they exchanged the complainant’s card which was later found in trousers of one of the suspects.

One of the suspects is alleged to use two surnames Mbokane and Madonsela. They will both appear before the Witbank Magistrate’s Court on November 24 for their formal bail application.
