WITBANK- A 39-year old TB patient was found dead, with a huge wound on his stomach yesterday morning at Witbank TB hospital.
The patient was only admitted at the hospital on the previous day of the incident and nurses and hospital management are still shocked as to what happened. “The patient was found outside the ward, seated and leaning against the wall with a huge opened wound in his stomach,” explained Dumisani Malamule spokesperson for the department.
“It is not yet clear whether the patient committed suicide or was murdered. The matter is being investigated by the police,” he adds.
MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Mr. Gillion Mashego says “I am also shocked by the death of the patient. We have called in the police to investigate what actually led to the death of the patient. We shall cooperate with the police during the investigation. We are also in contact with the family of the deceased so that we can determine the type of assistance they will require from us, “ says Mashego.
