Suspect found in possession of police uniform

Five unlicensed firearms, two police field trousers and two policewomen’s shirts were found in the suspect’s house.

BETHAL – A 28-year-old man who was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearms and precious metals will appear before the Bethal Magistrate’s Court today.

This comes after the Hawks received information about the firearms. “Upon investigations we recovered five pistols, seven magazines, two police field trousers and two policewomen’s shirts in the suspect’s house.

“Other items including balaclavas, gloves, a bullet-proof vest, a Fidelity guard’s bullet-proof vest and two sachets of uncharted diamonds were also found in the suspect’s bedroom,” explained Capt Dineo Sekgotodi, spokesperson for the Hawks in the province.

“More investigations on how he got the items still continues and more charges will possibly be added to him,” Sekgotodi concluded.
