Investigations continue on cash in transit’s bombing

Two vehicles from the Fidelity Security Company coming from Emoyeni Mall towards the N4 were apparently hailed with bullets from the rear by unknown suspects driving three Mercedes Benz, (one maroon, one silver grey and a white one).

MBOMBELA – Police are still looking for clues on the suspects who allegedly bombed the cash in transit vehicle and made away with an undisclosed amount of cash.

This incident took place on the Luphisi Road, in Pienaar, one of the notorious townships in the province, on Sunday morning.

This marks the third cash in transit robbery on the same road in a space of less than four month.

Hawks spokesperson, Lt Dineo Sekgotodi said no one has been arrested in this regard and the Hawks are still investigating the matter.

The suspects apparently shot two front tyres and the vehicle came to a standstill. “Explosives were used to bomb the safe and suspects fled with an undisclosed amount of money,” explained Sekgotodi.

One security guard was seriously injured and was rushed to hospital.
