CALCUTTA – A 26-year-old alleged serial rapist will make his first appearance before the Mapulaneng Magistrate’s Court tomorrow, February 11, 2016, facing fourteen counts of rape.
The suspect was nabbed yesterday, February 09, at his hideout in Sabie after police acted swiftly on a tip-off regarding his whereabouts.
He was first arrested in 2013 after being suspected to be responsible for a rape incident that occurred in Mariti. His case was provisionally withdrawn awaiting DNA test results.
DNA results positively linked the suspect with the fourteen cases of rape. Six of those cases were committed whilst his case was withdrawn.
The forensic report further revealed that four of the cases were committed in Sabie. A manhunt for the alleged serial rapist was then launched hence the arrest.
The suspect is also expected to be in the dock at the Sabie Magistrate’s Court for the cases he committed at Sabie soon.
