Hundreds of kids have fun over the weekend: Gallery

Umbrellatainment hosted a successful kids fun day over the weekend.

The founders of Umbrellatainment, two local young lads from eGame, Penwell Mkhatshwa and Harrison Mbatha, hosted a successful kids’ fun day at St Marks High School’s sports ground on Saturday.

Hundreds of children accompanied by their parents were kept entertained with jumping castles, water slides, local artists such as well-known comedian Matewu, and Sijulile Creative dancers.

“This event was all about giving back to the community. After paying all our expenses we aim to use 50 per cent of the profit to buy school shoes for orphans around eGame and other parts of Mbombela,” said Penwell.

“Growing up in difficult circumstances without my biological mother made me to be a strong person. It inspires me to do good for others, especially children, hence we plan to buy shoes for them,” he added.

He stated that although it was difficult to get a positive response from the various companies for sponsorships, he was grateful for the support he received from Coca Cola, the parents who attended the event and the school for providing them with the venue free of charge.

Umbrellatainment was founded in 2013 and specialises in events and graphic designs.
“Saturday marks our biggest event. It was awesome seeing all the people who supported us. It was a dream come true. We promise to host a bigger event around September. We will appreciate the support from businesses for that event too,” he said.
