This is a unit that employs factor of production to produce either goods or services that households, firms and government use to promote economy and the standard of living. This subject matter has played many roles in the economy of South Africa.
It has provided job opportunities, helped to reduce rural urban migration, acted as middleman between the manufacturers and households and increase the standard of living of the rural households. It has acted as an agent of local technology development, a means of nurturing indigenous materials to support larger enterprises and foreign investment, and assisted government to generate revenue such as tax to support and develop rural area.
The starting and operating of this tool of economic development has no criteria to those who can start it; either be a graduate or undergraduate, it is only based on the talent and the capability which each individual possess.
Economy of a country is elevated by small-scale business and South Africa Government has enhanced this by availing short and medium- loans for the establishment of the individual skills.
Banks also assist to finance this by overdraft and other numerous channels such as credit suppliers, trade credit, hire purchase and sales-return give rooms for maximum successful of the business.
For effective running of this engine, there must be employing of services of qualified personnel for affairs of the business, operating funds should not be used for non-income generating expenses and there must be adequate knowledge and proper planning.
Based on proving and certification of this analysis, it can be concluded that advertising is a complimentary and not a supplementary tool in making small scale business to break even while motivation will increase productivity which makes it for small scale business to put an end to suffering faced by South Africans.
