The 2014 TRAC Cycle Tour bound to attract top riders

The tour is traditionally open to u/16 boys and girls, junior men and women and u/23 men, but the phenomenal growth has resulted in another category, elite women, being added this year.

It is all systems go for the 2014 TRAC N4 Cycle Tour from March 27 to 30 in and around Nelspruit. This is the fourth year that TRAC sponsors this prestigious four-day event in which some of the country’s top cyclists will compete.

TRAC’s involvement not only helps promote cycling as a sport in the region, but it also boosts tourism and socio-economic development opportunities in the province.

The tour is traditionally open to u/16 boys and girls, junior men and women and u/23 men, but the phenomenal growth has resulted in another category, elite women, being added this year. This will also help Cycling SA to offer more competitive events for this category.

As with the first TRAC N4 Cycle Tour in 2011, this year’s five-stage route was carefully selected to showcase the Lowveld’s iconic landmarks, sites and towns such as Sabie, Schoemanskloof and Kaapsehoop. Given the Lowveld’s reputable terrain and unforgiving summer heat, the route is undoubtedly going to be one of the most challenging yet thus guaranteeing an action-packed and, nail-biting event.

Entries are open on www.hatoere.co.za and cyclists have only until March 16 to book their spot in this hotly contested competition.TRAC’s top priority is to keep all road users safe and for this reason closures have been scheduled during the competition.

These will be operational for as brief periods as possible and will be conducted in such a manner as to cause the least amount of disruption to motorists. A detailed list of the scheduled closures will be made public closer to the event.

With the final preparations underway, TRAC is determined to help make the 2014 TRAC N4 Cycle Tour one to remember. “We are proud to be part of such an acclaimed event on the cycling calendar and are confident that it will be thoroughly enjoyed by all participating riders and enthusiastically supported by the public,” TRAC said in a statement.
