KANYAMAZANE – Heads are set to roll following last week’s incident where a young woman gave birth under a tree in the street about 500 metres from the local clinic.
The department of health has confirmed that it has instituted a full-scale investigation into this event and opened a case with the local police following the disappearance of the patient’s file.
According to the departmental spokesman, Mr Ronny Masilela, they decided to do this after it went missing on the day she was turned away from the clinic.
“We are investigating this incident and have laid charges with the police after we had lost our property, which is the patient’s file. This is how serious we are taking this situation as a department.
We will leave no stone unturned. Drastic and unpopular decisions are going to be taken here.
“We are concerned about the treatment the general public receives from our public health-care institutions and this is the reason why we are going to take disciplinary measures against any of our employees who have been implicated in an unprofessional manner.
“We are attending to some of these problems and we take them very seriously. We will definitely act,” Masilela further said.
