IN PHOTOS | Meridian Karino celebrates 10th anniversary in style

The school invited some community members, parents, learners and several stakeholders to toast all their achievements.

Umsebenti Wetfu, the main celebration of Meridian Karino’s 10th anniversary, was a great success.

This event, held at Meridian Karino on September 7, was a joyful day during which the school took a walk down memory lane and celebrated its achievements. Some community members, parents, learners and several stakeholders were invited to celebrate their milestones. The school had a jam-packed programme that included performances by the much-loved Shakes & Les, Kamogelo Shakoane and Sihle Lukhele.

Other events took place before the main celebration on Saturday. On July 24, the school had the Umsebenti Wetfu Choir Festival, and on August 17, the Umsebenti Wetfu Band Night was hosted.

Meridian Karino officially opened in April 2014 with about 300 learners. Over the last 10 years, the numbers have grown to more than 900 in both the primary and high schools. The school had its first group of matrics in 2016, and has been named the top independent school in the Mbombela Circuit for its 2020, 2021 and 2022 matric results.

Meridian Karino’s executive head, Raymond Mazibuko, said: “We wanted to thank them for the support we’ve received.” He said looking back, they have achieved many things as a school. “Our matric pass rate has improved and we have been consistent in producing excellent results. We have improved in terms of sport codes and cultural activities, and we’ve added extra sport codes. We make sure that our teachers are specialists.”

Mazibuko said Meridian Karino is a school for the community, and everyone is invited to visit them and see what they do and to enrol their children there.
