Mbombela-based foundation hosts conference to uplift and empower women

The women who attended the event were told how to live a healthy lifestyle and how to start a sustainable business, and they were encouraged to refrain from selling their identity to foreign nationals in the name of love.

The 10th Annual Raising the Queen Esther Generation Conference again successfully focused on uplifting and empowering women.

The event was held on the Leadership Academy premises in Mbombela on August 24, when prominent women from surrounding areas shared some words of encouragement and support with vulnerable women.

The conference’s organiser, Blessing Sunday, launched Raising the Queen Esther Home, where vulnerable mothers can safely leave their unwanted babies. “The aim of the conference was also about bringing women together and giving them a voice about health issues, how to dress in a proper manner, how to keep their relationships with their spouses in a good condition, living a healthy lifestyle and how to start a sustainable business.

Most importantly, they were sensitised to refrain from selling their identity to foreign nationals in the name of love, resigning from their jobs to withdraw their savings and give their money to crooks that come under the guise of being pastors,” she said.

Sunday said all the speakers were highly experienced in their fields. She has no doubt it had a huge impact on all the ladies, because, in many cases, women out there are vulnerable and some people take advantage of that. That is why they want to raise women who will take a stand, like Esther in the Bible, and say no, enough is enough.

As for the newly launched centre, they are in the process of building it to cater to women in need of being taken care of, especially those who are pregnant with unwanted babies.

“We are calling on women not to put the unwanted babies in a dustbin or in a toilet pit, but to bring the baby to the centre and we will take care of it. We are also focusing on ladies who fall pregnant because they were raped. They must not attempt to abort the babies, but bring them to us. I believe all children are a blessing from God; it does not matter how they came to Earth,” said Sunday.

She also said the ladies who attended were spoilt with various goodies, and she thanked all the sponsors who came on board to ensure the conference was a success. She calls on local businesses to come on board and assist in building the home for these vulnerable women.
