Two men sentenced for murders in Mpumalanga

Bonginkosi Neil Malope was sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment by the Mpumalanga High Court, while Jeffrey Mnisi received 15 years from the Mhala Regional Court.

Two Mpumalangan men, Bonginkosi Neil Malope (38) and Jeffrey Mnisi (35), were recently convicted for separate murders and sentenced accordingly.
The Mpumalanga High Court sentenced Malope to 20 years’ imprisonment for the murder of Nontobeko Shirley Mkandawire in KaNyamazane on September 11, 2022.

According to a Mpumalanga police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, Malope was arrested after a murder case was opened when Mkandawire’s body had been found with multiple injuries in a house in Tekwane South.

“The investigation revealed that she was murdered by the offender, who had switched on the TV on a high volume and locked the door. He left the victim bleeding profusely inside the house and fled the scene. It was also revealed in court that prior to the incident, the offender and the woman had had an argument the previous day,” Mdhluli said.
