Luckyano Kgola (22), also known as Lukiano, is a music composer, vocalist and a pianist hoping to make a name for himself in the music industry with his new amapiano song, titled “Bekezela”, which dropped on February 23. The song features other local musicians.

He said the song came after he had grabbed an opportunity to work with a record label called JBross Entertainment, which he said played a vital role in the development of his career. “In the song, I worked with musicians Marrsive and Selbilistic Soul. We received positive feedback on social media platforms such as TikTok before its release.”

Last year was a busy year for this upcoming Mzinti-born musician, as he dropped the singles “Angsakhoni” and “Nairobi”, featuring local artists.

Kgola comes from a family of musicians. He grew up attending church while his father taught him how to play the piano and sound technicalities.

“My love of music developed from then. I played the piano at church, weddings and many other events, and did live performances singing with my siblings and friends as a way to nurture my talent. I started recording music in 2015, but it was not released. I was popular in school as I used to sing at the morning assemblies and concerts. After completing matric in 2019, I released my debut single produced by a local producer named Quinton Deep SA. The song is titled ‘Take My Love’ and it got me some attention and exposure,” he said.

“Some special moments in my career so far was being nominated in the Mpumalanga Music Awards in 2022 and being featured by Innovative DJs on their song titled ‘Danko danko’, which its music video aired on Trace Africa and SABC 1.”
