Nkomazi East Circuit the most improved in the province with matric results

Mahlatse Secondary School was named 2023's consistently improving school of the year. This and other results were recently lauded by the Department of Education.

The class of dreams, so named by the MEC of the Department of Education (DoE), Bonakele Majuba, has recorded a 77% pass rate for the 2023 matric year.
According to the MEC, this pass rate constitutes a 0.2% improvement from the 76.8% obtained in 2022.

The Ehlanzeni District has recorded an 81.8% pass rate, which is an improvement of 5.6% compared to 2022. This has made it the number one performing district.
The MEC said in his speech the Nkomazi East Circuit was the most improved circuit in the province. Mahlatsi Secondary School in the Malelane Circuit was named 2023’s consistently improving school. It recorded a 25.8% improvement with a 88.9% pass rate.

“Nkomazi East Circuit registered a pass rate of 60.2% in 2022 and it has since improved its results by 17.4%, making it the most improved circuit after it registered a 77.6% pass rate in 2023. We congratulate Themba Mabuza, the circuit manager, and his team for this achievement. It is worth noting that 55 out of 71 circuits performed above 70%, which is our acceptable threshold. We congratulate all circuit managers and their teams for the outstanding performance,” said Majuba.

Shongwe Boarding School registered a pass rate of 95.4% compared to the 92.4% obtained in 2022, making it the number-one performing boarding school in the province.
