A provincial police spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdhluli, said, “According to information from a family member, Singh received a call from an unknown person who identified himself as a technician from eMalahleni Local Municipality who was assigned to check an electrical fault at his business. The victim is said to have taken heed to the so-called ‘appointment’ and went to the business site that following morning. According to further obtained information, a group of about three suspects reportedly came in a grey Ford Kuga at about 08:20. The registration number of their vehicle seems to have been cloned.”

Mdhluli said only two men, who were armed and wearing balaclavas, reportedly alighted from the vehicle.
“The suspects forced Singh into their vehicle, then drove towards Kriel, leaving behind Singh’s vehicle. Along the way, the suspects reportedly dropped the victim’s cellphone, which has been recovered.”
