Two contestants from Mpumalanga battle it out to the Idols SA finale

During an interview with Thabo Ndlovu, he said each week of the competition has its fair share of challenges.

The battle for the top two has begun. The top three of Idols SA season 19 has two Mpumalanga contestants who will compete for a chance to perform in the finale.

Princess McDonald (24) from Bushbuckridge and Thabo Ndlovu (26) from eMalahleni made the cut on Saturday October 21. The third contestant is Faith Nakana from Limpopo.

The results were announced live on Mzansi Magic (DStv channel 161) and Mzansi Wethu (DStv channel 163). McDonald is the only female participant left in the competition. With the grand prize of R1m hanging in the balance, this is the very last season of Idols SA after 21 years of airing on SA’s TV screens.

The last three standing are set to debut their original studio singles on Saturday’s (October 28) episode. The night was divided into three performance per contestant. McDonald’s first one was with Deep London and was “Hamba Wena”. Her second was Rihanna’s “Russian Roulette”, and her last performance was the rendition of Beyoncé’s “Listen”.

Ndlovu collaborated with DJ Heavy K on “Inde” and performed the rendition of Stevie Wonder’s “Signed, Sealed, Delivered” in the second round. His final performance was Hle’s “You Are”.

In an interview with this newspaper on Monday, Ndlovu said making it into the top three is honestly amazing. “Firstly, I feel so thankful, foremost to God and also to my supporters who take time to vote for me.”

Sharing his experiences in the competition, he said, “The journey so far has been a very exciting and humbling one. Each week has its own fair share of challenges, but prayer and support have been my driving force in this entire journey.”

To vote for Ndlovu, SMS 08 to 37400 and for McDonald, SMS 07 to 37400.
