Creative artist from Likazi an aspiring fashion, dance and music master

Sakhile Nkosi is a versatile creative artist who has created fashionable dresswear and served as a backing artist for some of the greatest South African musicians.

A gospel singer, fashion designer and choreographer, Sakhile Nkosi, also known as Sakhile Artist, is surely a master of the arts.

Working alongside big artists on big stages, he hopes to continue to help serve the best designs and moves while showcasing his voice as a backing singer.

Nkosi’s career started in church in KaNyamazane when he joined the worshipping in 2002, from where he skyrocketed into a powerful artist.

“My singing career highlights include being part of the Clash of the Choirs season 1 competition. It was during this time that I realised my gift as a choreographer. I choreographed most of our performances for the team of which I was part, Team Zwai.

“In 2015, I had the opportunity to join the Tshwane Gospel Choir, which offered me a chance to travel to the United Kingdom. As time went by, I became more than a singer in the choir and was appointed as one of the choreographers. I then became an in-house designer in 2017 and designed the wardrobe for the choir,” Nkosi said.

He also choreographed the choirs’ performance on Idols SA in 2019. His designing skills led him to making a name for himself in the gospel and entertainment industry. He became the wardrobe manager for the Rising Sun Choir and Mpumalanga Praise.

The beginning of his designing career began by attempting his own unique design from an old shirt.

“I grew up watching my mum sew. I would sit beside her and just looked at what she was doing. One day, I took an old shirt and ripped it apart and made a new one with some material my mum had had for years. I was so impressed with that first attempt. Today, I make unique outfits to make people feel good while they are on stage.”
