Mpumalanga officials join forces for one last Madiba Month event

The learners of John Mdluli Primary School recently received some gifts from the Office of the Premier's officials.

The Mpumalanga Office of the Premier’s officials, led by the deputy director general for institutional development, Dr Maseke Mabelane, closed off Mandela Month by restoring the dignity of some underprivileged learners of John Mdluli Primary School. The officials donated 60 pairs of school shoes, beautifully wrapped, with the learners’ names on them.

They also painted the school palisades.
In her message of support, Mabelane encouraged the learners to take their schoolwork seriously and utilise available platforms that will assist them to study towards what they want to become.

She quoted Nelson Mandela, who said, “Education is the most powerful weapon that you can use to change the world.”
After the initiative, the Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE)extended its appreciation to the officials for their generosity and for restoring the dignity of these learners.

The department also encouraged other organisations and individuals to join in the fight against poverty and inequality by supporting educational initiatives in Mpumalanga.
The DoE’s spokesperson, Jasper Zwane, said, “Together we can make a difference in the lives of our children and build a better future for our province.”
