University of Mpumalanga’s soccer team outshines Nkabi FC in finals

The coach of UMP men’s football team, Kuda Kasunzuma, said they are preparing for the preseason tournament.

These soccer players had to show off their full potential during the recent General Tembe Top Eight Tournament.

It consisted of two groups. Group A played at the University of Mpumalanga’s (UMP) sports grounds and group B played at the Halls grounds.

Group A consisted of UMP, Mbombela xi Experience and Mashabane FC. Group B consisted of Nkabi FC, Mbombela City and Sibumbe FC.

All the teams faced one another within their categories, and the winners left standing battled it out in the final. The winner of group A was UMP, and group B’s winner was Nkabi FC.

According to the head coach of the UMP men’s football team, Kuda Kasunzuma, the finals saw the university’s team beating Nkabi FC 1-0. With a goal from Karabo Mkhabela, they were crowned champions.

On July 19, Kasunzuma said the players had returned to campus and are preparing for the preseason tournament, which starts on August 6.
“We started with our programmes today. We are assessing the fitness of the players as per the fitness programme they got a month ago. We will then move to our physical and tactical preparations. We will be teaching them guidelines. We are also preparing for the USSA championships that will take place in Cape Town in December.”
