Mahushu teenagers unite in the spirit of soccer

The World Wide Prophetic Ministry team defeated Ngobeni Football Club 3-1.

Two newly formed local soccer teams in Mahushu Trust near Hazyview went head to head with the aim to bring about unity within the community and to keep teenage boys off the streets.

Displaying passion and eagerness to be professional sports stars in the future, Ngobeni Football Club and World Wide Prophetic Ministry (WWPM) took each other on at the Mahushu Sports Ground on Saturday July 1.

WWPM won the match 3-1. It was the first game both the teams had played.

Founder of the WWPM, Prophet Mandla Bulunga, said he did not expect the team to pull through with such amazing performance.

“This was their very first match and they showed great talent that needs to be nurtured. Who knows, they might become the first ever soccer stars to come out of this village.

The aim of this game was to create a space for our local boys in the village to have something they can enjoy during the school holidays,” Bulunga said.

He said they will continue with friendly games against other teams as well.

Despite the loss, Ngobeni FC’s coach, Mandisa Mhlanga, said he is confident that his team has the potential to grow.

“This was a showcase of natural and raw talent. We need to work on their discipline and prepare them for local leagues. Although we are in a small village, not exposed to developmental opportunities in football, I hope I am able to bring change to the lives of these youngsters,” Mhlanga said.
