EFF claims it will lead differently at 10th anniversary in Delmas

The EFF's leader, Julius Malema, said the current government is failing this community and all the people living with disabilities. He vowed things would be different with the EFF, however.

The EFF’s president, Julius Malema, has cautioned his party members that when the EFF takes over the reins, they must not become just another government, but must lead differently.

Speaking during the party’s 10th anniversary build-up activation held at the Siyanqoba Daycare Centre for the disabled in Delmas on Friday June 9, Malema made a call to party members that they must do things differently to the current ruling government.

He said he had recently heard that this particular centre, which has been in operation for over 10 years, is still run without any funding and grants from government.

“We must not sugar-coat it; the current government is failing this community and all the people living with disabilities. This centre is doing great work for the community, and you can see that these people or volunteers are doing it with passion and love. They are caring for these special children without even getting paid, and they don’t get tired, because they know they are here to serve.

”This is what the EFF must do when we take over government. We must not become just another government. We must serve like these people are doing at this centre. We must lead differently to how the current government is leading,” said Malema to much applause.
“What is so difficult about granting this centre some funding, when its work speaks volumes?”

Malema’s EFF donated R100 000 to the centre and committed to buy and donate a vehicle to it, since it mentioned it did not have any, which makes it difficult for it to execute some of its duties.

The EFF also donated food parcels, bedding and floor tiles to the centre.
Before finishing his speech, Malema invited the centre management to the EFF’s gala dinner at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg on July 27 and the national 10th anniversary celebration at the FNB Stadium on the 29th.

The centre’s assistant manager, Mduduzi Mtsweni, said the EFF’s gesture will go a long way in assisting with its day-to-day running, as they had to run the centre without any funding or support for the longest time.

“On behalf of the centre, I just want to thank the EFF, as we welcome this gesture of goodwill. What it has done here today gives us hope of a brighter tomorrow. This is the kind of leadership we want in the country, and we hope one day they will get to lead the country and change the lives of people like they did here today,” said Mtsweni.
