Mpumalanga young people armed with job hunting skills

The Expo Roadshow at Mbombela Stadium brought opportunities for young people in the province.

Some of Mpumalanga young job seekers, hustlers and entrepreneurs had the opportunity to attend the SA Youth Opportunities Expo Roadshow at Mbombela Stadium on March 3. This event was hosted by SA Youth and various other stakeholders.

The aim of the initiative was to teach young people about opportunities and other ways to get employed. It was all about networking and having conversations about youth employment, job-seeking and entrepreneurship.

Some bits of information offered were assistance on how to register on the sayouth.mobi app, how to help the youth level up their hustle, how to get equipped with the necessary skills to get a job, and answers on any of the questions they had.

The spokesperson for the Mpumalanga Department of Employment and Labour, Hlanganisa Mbatha, said they achieved the mandate of the event. “The plan was to bring various role players and stakeholders to come together to assist young people and to provide opportunities that will assist them to get employed. On the day, some of them got to apply for jobs, internships and learnerships.”

Mbatha said those who did not have CVs, were assisted, too. “They got assistance on how to create a CV and went home having one.”
