Three suspects escape from lawful custody in Acornhoek

Fugitives, Suprise Maluleke and Menley Sithole, are both suspected of committing a violent attack with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, while Ludwick Molobela is suspected of copper theft.

Three suspects escaped from lawful custody in Acornhoek on Wednesday February 22 at about 17:30.

According to a provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, the suspects escaped though a small window at the back of the awaiting cell.
“Our investigations revealed that Molobela (20), who is suspected of copper theft, and Maluleke and Sithole, both aged 24 and suspects in an assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm case, escaped through a window from a cell.”

Mohlala said, the suspects were temporarily kept in the waiting cell during a shift change, awaiting to be taken to the holding cells.
“When the time for the suspects to be taken to the holding cells, members went to the awaiting cell and found only one suspect left.”
