Tonga SAPS appeals to the public to help reunite missing teen with her family

Luyanda Ngwenya, who is said to be pregnant, has been missing for almost two months now, She was last seen on January 26 by a male friend.

The Tonga SAPS is counting on the community’s assistance to locate Luyanda Ngwenya (18), who went missing from her house in Mzinti in January.

A provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, said Ngwenya was last seen by a male friend on January 26. “Ngwenya, who is said to be pregnant, was last seen January 26. She was then reported missing at the Tonga Police Station by her family on January 28. The male friend confirmed seeing her on the day she went missing. He said Ngwenya visited him, on that very same day, and she asked him for money for a haircut.”

Mohlala said Ngwenya’s sibling received a goodbye note from her. “A few days after Ngwenya’s disappearance, her younger sister got a strange note with messages biding her goodbye. At this stage we cannot confirm the authenticity of the note, however, our investigations are in the process of locating her, as well as to verify the message received by the sibling.”
