Multimedia studio to uplift creatives in Mpumalanga

Already utilised by popular musicians, Redamancy Studios aims to elevate more music creators.

Redamancy Studios is a first-of-its-kind and a state-of-the-art multimedia studio in Mbombela, the heart of Mpumalanga.

The founder, Zoe Matsebula, known as DJ Zoe on the music scene, said the studio was founded on the words “We rise by lifting others”.

Matsebula said the studio’s establishment in Mbombela was a necessity, especially for the fast-growing music industry.
“Mpumalanga has a lot of talented, creative and passionate artists who lacked a hub in which they can enhance and nurture their talents and produce quality work,” she said.

“Uplifting creatives is the main goal. We offer opportunities that will change the creative industry in Mpumalanga. It is a platform targeting locals so that they do not have to travel to another province to get quality productions of their craft.”

Matsebula said various services are offered at the studio, such as music recording and production, photography, artist management and DJ training.

“This studio is created to accommodate artists with everything they need. Some upcoming musicians do not have the knowledge about registering their music, which is vital for every musician,” she said.

The recording studio has seen its first production, a powerful collaboration by the award-winning Afrotraction (Mzwandile Moya) and eSwatini talent, Sandz (Sandziso Matsebula). Another nationally acclaimed muso, Mr Brown, has also utilised it.

Matsebula said the studio also prided itself in its Music Creative Workshop, which sees many young artists in various fields being uplifted.

“The workshop is annual three-day conference that attracts vocalists, poets and DJs from all over the province. This platform has grown rapidly over the years and continues to help more artists with grants facilitated by institutions such as the National Youth Development Agency,” Matsebula explained.

More projects are in the pipeline this year, such as an edutainment podcast and voiceover training, which may create more job opportunities at the studio.

“We want to educate and entertain local listeners in Siswati and other Nguni languages. This will also be a platform to encourage youngsters to take pride in their home languages,” she said.

Matsebula said the studio was open for anyone to make use of it to create something that will last them a lifetime.
