TS Galaxy end 2022 with a hard-earned 2-1 win in Maritzburg

TS Galaxy striker Djakaridja Traoré scored the goals for his team. The victory ended The Rockets' nine-game winless streak.

After a lengthy Fifa break, TS Galaxy returned to the DStv Premiership contest with a deserved victory. The Rockets overcame Maritzburg United 2-1 despite having to come from behind early on.
They collected all possible points. The match’s three goals were all scored by TS Galaxy forward Djakaridja Traoré.
Traoré accidentally gave the ‘Team of Choice’ a 1-0 advantage when he diverted Keagan Ritchie’s excellent free kick into his own net.
Two minutes after his blunder Traoré restored parity for The Rockets through a marvellous assist from Lindokuhle Mbatha. The match closed for the half-time break in a stalemate.
As the second half got under way, the big man Traoré caused a lot of chaos for the Maritzburg defenders.
Ater some superb work by Kamogelo Sebelebele, he provided an assist to Traoré who scored to make it 2-1 in the 77th minute. This gave Galaxy the lead and that was the winning goal.
This victory ended their nine-match winless run and moved them up to ninth place in the league standings with 16 points after playing 13 matches.
TS Galaxy looked to be the sharper one, and it seemed that their European tour is bearing fruit as their offensive and goal-scoring abilities have improved.
They recently played Turkish giants Giresunspor FC, UC Sampdoria of Italian Serie A, and Al Batin of the Saudi Arabian Pro League during their European tour to prepare for the second half of the DStv Premiership.
On the first Tuesday of 2023, The Rockets will travel to Durban to face the feisty Royal AM.
