Mbombela school sets the bar high at national champs

St Marks thrashed the Northern Cape's Homevale High School 8-2 in their second game of the tourney.

The highly anticipated Kay Motsepe Schools Cup football championship finals started on Wednesday December 7 in Gauteng.
The Mpumalanga side, St Marks International School, lost 1-0 to Qhilika Secondary School of KwaZulu-Natal in the opening of their group C match, but they stood tall and promised to do better in their upcoming matches.
“The boys’ demeanour throughout this competition will not be based on the outcome of the first game,” said the head coach, Rewano Swarts.

The Mbombela team used the first game’s loss as fuel and destroyed the Northern Cape side, Homevale High School, 8-2 in their second encounter to maintain their hopes of winning the trophy.
St Marks are no strangers to this tourney as they have clinched it before and are striving to bring it home.
The Mbombela school have been chanting the slogan “It is not about how you start, but it is about how you finish”, and with this, will fight tooth and nail to bring home the glory.
