Suspect behind series of alleged burglaries in Badplaas arrested

The suspect will appear before the Carolina Magistrate's Court on Thursday November 24 on acharge of possession of suspected stolen property, with an additional charge of possession of unlicensed ammunition.

A 28-year-old man suspected to be behind a string of burglaries in Badplaas was arrested and suspected stolen property worth about R250 000 was recovered on Monday November 21 at about 16:00.
According a provincial police spokesperson, Brigadier Selvy Mohlala, police in Badplaas received information from a reliable source about suspected stolen property that was reportedly stolen from holiday houses at Vygeboom Farm in Badplaas.
“Upon receiving the information, police went into action, resulting in a breakthrough whereby a rifle safe, 12 live rounds of ammunition, two fridges, four TV sets, four sound systems and other suspected stolen property was recovered.”

“The arrested suspect is expected to make his first court appearance in the Carolina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday November 24 on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property, with an additional charge of possession of unlicensed ammunition. As part of the investigation, police are still tracking down other suspects also believed to be involved in the burglaries,” said Mohlala.

The provincial commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has welcomed the arrest of the suspect as well as the recovery of the property.
“I would like to extended a sincere appreciation to all community members who continuously join hands with police in the fight against crime by providing valuable information.”
