Tembo fired as Sekhukhune United coach

Under his tutelage, the team languished in the relegation zone, on position 15, having played 12 games, winning two, losing five and drawing five.

Sekhukhune United FC has sacked head coach Kaitano Tembo on Tuesday.
Tembo was brought to Babina Noko during the start of the 2022/23 DStv Premiership season.

Under his tutelage, the team languished in the relegation zone, on position 15, having played 12 games, winning two, losing five and drawing five.

Babina Noko were part of a host of clubs that made wholesale changes to their playing and coaching personnel ahead of the new season, roping in the former SuperSport United mentor and moving MacDonald Makhubedu into a senior coaching position.

In a statement forwarded to this publication, the club’s CEO, Jonas Malatji, expressed his deepest gratitude to the Zimbabwean mentor and thanked him for all his efforts while with the side.

He said the decision to part ways with Tembo was not an easy one. “Sport in general and football in particular is result-driven, and this remains true for the club that find itself in a very precarious position in the league.”

The management wished Tembo luck. “The management and the board will in the meantime begin in earnest searching for a coach, and will not make any further statements on the matter until then.”
