Miss Mpumalanga wishes the Class of 2022 well

Lungile Fakude appealed to guardians to support learners and students during this year's examination period.

With fewer than five days before the start of the 2022 matric examination, Miss Mpumalanga, Lungile Fakude, has called on students to triple their efforts and to not drop the ball until the final paper.

Fakude also appealed to communities and parents to support their children during this month-long examination period.

“This is it. This is the moment of truth. You have studied and worked so hard the entire year for this moment, and so, make it count. Don’t lose focus until the last paper. It’s not going to be easy, but focus and determination will certainly guide you home,” said the province’s beauty queen.

Fakude, a qualified occupational therapist, said the matriculants will need all the support they can get.

She was speaking on the sidelines of her meet-and-greet visit to the new MEC for finance, economic development and tourism, Nompumelelo Hlophe, on Friday October 21.

“It is important for parents and the community at large to understand that these students need less stress and more support. I wish to suggest to parents that they consider giving their children less work during this time so they can concentrate more on their schoolwork,” she said.

Hlophe is passionate about young women and hopes to see their greater empowerment through the Miss Mpumalanga platform. She applauded the platform the Miss Mpumalanga brand is currently proving to be to the province’s young women.

“We need to nurture and prepare young women so that they can be great leaders in the future. I believe that the Miss Mpumalanga organisation has shown its potential to do exactly that,” said Hlophe.
