Mbombela’s popular liquor wholesaler is expanding

Rooikat Liquors is opening a new branch in November.

One of Mbombela’s well-known liquor wholesalers, Rooikat Liquors, is set to become bigger and better with a new store opening in
November. Currently under construction, Rooikat Liquors has found the perfect space to continue supplying the best quality alcohol beverages to the people of the Lowveld at the most affordable prices.

One of the founders, Johan Breytenbach, took Mpumalanga News on a tour to the new premises downtown, next to the Buscor offices.

He said the plan has always been to expand the wholesaler to cater for all the targeted markets for the past 10 years.

“The wholesaler we currently have does not allow us to reach the markets we wish to penetrate due the limitation of storage. With the new wholesale space, we will be able to keep as much stock to supply to most pubs, taverns, hotels and restaurants in the Lowveld and to begin our distribution to areas in the 200km radius we have set,” he said.

“The wholesaler, which is about 11ha, will allow a walk-in for small-quantity purchases and bulk buying that will contribute the growth of our distribution network. We are excited to have finally begun the project this year after four years of looking for the perfect space. Preparations and the final touches are under way and we plan to have an opening in November.”

The new wholesale space, situated at the Delta EMD Park, will be more accessible for customers from KaMagugu and heading to the KaNyamazane, Pienaar, KaBokweni and Zwelisha areas.

“We noticed that most of our target market cannot access the current shop. A reason for that is its position in Stinkhout Crescent that is out of reach for our target market. The new shop will allow the traffic coming in to Mbombela every day a chance to enjoy some specials we will offer,” he said.

Breytenbach said Rooikat Liquor management intends to engage with government stakeholders to create a platform for community upliftment programmes that will help create much needed employment and economic opportunities for local people.
