Alleged fraudster arrested in Bushbuckridge

The suspect is expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court on September 16.

A 54-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of fraud after being accused of forging paperwork in one of the country’s banks. The incident occurred in Bushbuckridge yesterday, September 15.

According to the police, the man visited the bank and requested a loan application. The consultant realised that the payslip and the identity document did not match up. The man was requested to provide his bank statement, which also did not correspond.

The police were notified and upon investigation, a case docket was registered and the suspect was arrested. He is expected to appear in the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court today, September 16, for fraud.

The provincial police commissioner, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Manamela, has welcomed the arrest of the alleged fraudster and has cautioned the public to guard against them, especially during this time of the year when people are preparing themselves for the Festive Season.
