IN PHOTOS: Ndebele people in KwaMhlanga celebrate Isiko Day

The celebrations included traditional music, poetry and Ndebele traditional dance groups which entertained the crowd.

Ndebele people celebrated Isiko Day on Sunday July 31 at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium with the community coming out in numbers to commemorate their culture.

The president of TS Galaxy, Tim Sukazi, and the Amandebele Tribal Authority joined hands and hosted this celebration of tradition and culture. The Isiko Day also honoured the 40 000 men who had completed the initiation school tradition (ukuwela).

A grand ceremony was held for these men as it was the first time that ukuwela occurred after it had been stopped due to Covid-19 two years ago.

The event was attended by many prominent people in Mpumalanga, including MEC Thandi Shongwe and the tribal authority in KwaMhlanga.
