Mpumalanga school thrash Western Cape in first game of competition

The team hope to further impress against team Limpopo in their upcoming match.

The Mbombela-based school soccer team St Mark’s, representing Mpumalanga, hammered team Western Cape 5-1 in their first match of the National Winter Games. The game was played at Benoni High School in Gauteng on July 12.

The school got off to a fantastic start in the contest, giving them a bigger advantage in terms of goals scored. They wants to bring the glory back home after earning a good reputation since the competition’s opening round.

“The boys really impressed in the first game and I am happy. They did well, played as a collective, punished when needed to and overcame the obstacle ahead of them. We anticipate the next game against Limpopo to be tough, but we will fight till the end. It’s just unfortunate that the boys’ hunger for success will end in the other provinces succumbing to our boys’ success,” said coach Rewano Swarts.

They hope to further impress against team Limpopo in their upcoming match.
