Team Mpumalanga determined to make province proud at National Winter Games

Players of volleyball, netball and chess make up the Mpumalanga team to participate in the Winter Games.

The Mpumalanga Department of Education and the Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation have sent a team to participate in the National Winter Games scheduled to take place at the University of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape throughout the week.

The team consists of netball, volleyball and chess players. These games form part of the Departmental Curriculum Enrichment Programme to unearth and nurture learners’ talents from early ages, while at the same time also seeking to teach them.

On Monday July 4, the Mpumalanga u/14 netball team opened proceedings on a slow pace, when they faced off against their counterparts from KwaZulu-Natal.

“The department extends its best wishes to Team Mpumalanga with the hope that they will fly the Mpumalanga flag high. We are certain that they will do their best to represent the Province of the Rising Sun well and bring some accolades back home,” said the MEC for education, Bonakele Majuba.
