Celebrated chef shares her personal favourite kasi dishes for Christmas

It is that time of the year again when families come together.

MBOMBELA – And there is no better way to celebrate than to have an unforgettable feast.

With only two days to go before Christmas, celebrated chef Khayakazi Khoza recommends nothing but good company with deliciously home-cooked meals.

“Christmas is around the corner, and it is one of the holidays that we must really celebrate with the family. I also get to spend more time with my family during this time of the year. I love food and I can’t think of anything else but cooking and preparing delicious meals. I recommend that you also try cooking something special for your loved ones instead of eating out on Christmas Day,” said Khoza.

Khoza suggested that in the absence of good cooks at home, one can always try the trusted kasi meals.

“Kasi food is very simple. We all know that there is no Christmas without having braai meat, such as beef, pork and boerewors. Many families enjoy braai meat. There is no need to be hectic with salads, we all love all types of salads, but chakalaka is always the best,” she continued.

“What I would like for the families to try out for this Christmas, is the ox tripe, pork trotters, ox head, kwerekwere chicken and many other African foods,” she beamed. Khoza first realised her passion for food at an early age when she started watching her mother while she cooked.

She said when other children were watching cartoons, she would be watching food channels. Her love of kasi and African food encouraged her to open her own place called Triple K’s Kitchen.

“I would like to own my own restaurant and spread my wings around the country. I have so many ideas in my head that I would like to share with the world,” she said. If you want to support her and place orders, call her on 076 262 8295.
