CANSA Lowveld’s Shades of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness and screening event

CANSA Lowveld hosted its Shades of Pink Breast Cancer Awareness and Screening event at Crossing Centre on Saturday October 30. During this event, free clinical breast examinations, glucose and blood pressure tests were offered to the public. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the organisation aims to educate communities about the disease.

This initiative was sponsored by Pinky Phosa Solutions Foundation. It was hosted by CANSA Lowveld in partnership with Kiaat Private Hospital, Dr Bongi Baloi and Dr Celia Cumbi.

Mpumalanga CANSA’s sustainability coordinator, Melissa Young, said, “CANSA joined hands with a very special warm-hearted lady who continues to help everyone, Pinky Phosa.

We brought some of the best, most passionate medical professionals, Dr Baloi and Dr Cumbi, to perform free clinical breast examinations. We had wonderful nurses from Kiaat Hospital performing free glucose and blood pressure tests.

A huge thank you to all involved in making it possible. Crossing Centre in Mbombela, Phosa and Candice Peterson and the team from the hospital, we appreciate that you were part of this event.”

Young said there were people who came to have clinical breast examinations, glucose and blood pressure tests done. The organisation hosts many awareness initiatives.
