Two karate champs to fly Mzansi’s flag

The two will be heading to Dubai on November 5 to prepare for the big tournament.

Local karatekas Richman Mabena and Dumile Mlungu have qualified for the World Karate Championship scheduled to take place from November 16 to 20 in Dubai. Mabena will fight in the 65-kilogram category and Mlungu in the heavyweight above 85 kilograms category.

The two will be heading to Dubai on November 5 to prepare for the big tournament. Sifiso Sindane, their chief instructor, said he was confident the two would do well in the competition.

“I am confident that they are going to bring us medals, because they are disciplined and committed to their training. Based on the international exposure they have gained in the last eight years, they know that it is never going to be an easy challenge, but I am confident they will emerge victors.
