Protest action underway in Kildare for clean drinking water and shopping facility

This morning the residents barricaded the main road between Ximhungwe, Cunningmore and Sikukuza with debris, demanding that Bushbuckridge Local Municipality provide them with clean water.

Hundreds of angry residents of Kildare village near Ximhungwe are up in arms in demand of clean drinking water and a shopping mall in the area.

“On previous occasions we would receive running water once a week from our taps and we understood that arrangement because the water had to be shared with other villages. So we would make sure that we collected enough water to last our families until the next flow. But for the past three months we received no water at all and no body has explained to us the reason,” said Bonga Ndlovu, a resident. READ: Residents strike over water

The residents added that they had to travel to far areas for their shopping allegedly because some politicians were delaying the process of signing agreements with developers.
