Funny man aims to bring his brand of comedy to the stage
The comedian, Vusi Mongwe, not only uses his self-taught skills to leave his audience rolling on the floor with laughter, but also to induce some positive vibes.
Mongwe said his jokes have ingredients to heal the soul.
“There is life in my jokes. I do not just make you burst into laughter, but leave you healed in your soul. That’s not me saying so, it’s the kind of feedback I am getting from people who follow me.
“It just takes a session of laughter with me for a troubled soul to be transformed from a state of despair to happiness.
Laughter is the best medicine.” Mongwe said the comedy bug bit him at an early age. “I was in my primary school in Nkomazi when I was awarded a certificate for being the best entertainer,” he said.

Having been retrenched from a steel manufacturing company in Middelburg made him take his joking skills seriously.
“From there I worked as a taxi driver just to pay bills and put food on the table, but I never stopped doing comedy as I would honour invitations to perform at weddings, parties, stokvels and other social events.”
He said he took a conscious decision to move from doing part-time comedy to full-time.
“A comedy show was organised in Middelburg, and I pleaded with the organisers to perform before the huge crowd. Unfortunately they did not allow me. I persisted until I was given the opportunity to perform at the News Café in eMalahleni in 2017. I brought the best I had, because the feedback I received from the organisers was encouraging. Since then I became a regular feature in some prominent comedy shows, including in Johannesburg. I never thought I could do comedy for a living.”
Mongwe is currently producing hilarious videos enjoyed by his fans on social media channels like Facebook, Twitter and TikTok.
