Pienaar Police Station praised for cleanliness

Shongwe emphasised the importance of keeping public facilities clean especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic as per the health regulations to prevent the spread of the virus.

The local police station had been highly commended for its spotless facility.
MEC Vusi Shongwe praised the management of Pienaar Police Station, under the leadership of the station commander, Col Thulani Maphanga, for keeping it clean.

Shongwe emphasised the importance of keeping public facilities clean especially during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic as per the health regulations to prevent the spread of the virus.
“Keeping the workstation clean should not only happen when an MEC visits that workstation. Facilities must always be clean. I am still to visit this police station without making an announcement and I expect to find it spotless,” he said.

Shongwe also urged the SAPS to do their work without fear or favour to ensure that Pienaar/Msogwaba and surrounding areas are crime-free.
“You must serve the community well in terms of crime prevention as we know that this area was previously identified as one of the crime hotspots in the province. You must arrest perpetrators of crime and eliminate them from the community,” he said.
Pienaar Police Station is one of 29 stations in Ehlanzeni District. Among its services it boast a victim-friendly support centre for supporting victims of gender-based violence.

Capt Jabu Ndubane, spokesperson for the Pienaar Cluster, said the station has the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigations Unit that deal with related cases from stations falling under the former Pienaar cluster and others.
The station is headed by Col Thulani Maphanga and he is assisted by Lt Col Mapitso Makgatho.
“In case the community is not happy about a case or they have any complaints, they may put their complaints into the suggestion box found at the reception area or formally lodge their complaint with the station commander,” explained Ndubane.
