Birthday celebration ends in tragedy at Mshadza club
The police are investigating a case of business robbery, murder and two counts of attempted murder.
What was meant to be an entertaining birthday celebration featuring both local and national artists at one of the clubs between Hazyview and Mshadza, ended tragically on Saturday.
A 23-year-old woman died on the scene after being shot in her head. Two others sustained bullet wounds and several others were left injured and traumatised while fleeing for their lives.

The club is situated near a residential area. According to witnesses, who cannot be named for fear of victimisation, sounds of bullets being fired were heard from their homes around midnight. “This was followed by screams and people running from the bar,” they said.
It is alleged that two armed men entered the club and randomly started firing at patrons. This happened not long after the performance of well-known Durban-born singer and dancer, Kamo Mphela.
Sgt Naniki Nonyane, spokesperson for the Masoyi police, confirmed the incident. “The SAPS are investigating a case of business robbery, murder and two counts of attempted murder. No arrests have been made yet,” she said.
