Police hunt suspects after murder of businesswoman

The provincial police are looking for four suspects who murdered a 48-year-old businesswoman on Monday evening at Siyabuswa.

According to the police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, these armed suspects entered the woman’s premises and forced her children to open the kitchen door to gain entry, as she was not at home at the time.

Two of the suspects entered while the others remained outside to wait for her to come home from work.

“She arrived home moments later and after closing her gate, a shot was fired at her by one of the suspects, fatally wounding her. All the suspects fled thereafter and left her lying in a pool of blood. However, no valuables were taken. “The police and medical personnel were notified about the incident, and upon arrival, the woman was certified dead.

“She was identified as Emily Mthimunye, who owned a tavern in the area,” said Hlathi.

A case of murder was opened, and the matter is currently being investigated. The motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.
