On the night of the crowning, her answers to the question asked by the panel of judges, was, “It is time we as parents stop neglecting our children, because we are so caught up in work that we are raising a broken generation.

“My dream is to raise a better society, because if we are raising an angry, frustrated young boy, the possibilities are we are raising a rapist, a killer, an abuser, you name it. I want to create platforms to help young boys become better boys, brothers, fathers and uncles.”

Mkhabela also has a long list of recommendations for policies she believed would make the country a better place to live in.

She has many plans for the youth of the province, especially boys.

“Long before the pageant. I have always been serving the community mostly working with different schools in the White Hazy area. The Department of Social Development and Sanca have been of great help with my projects, and now the plan is to continue where we ended. I have also started an organisation called Emerald Stories where I will have various programmes such as online interview shows that will be launched soon on the Emerald Stories channel on YouTube. The stage play Malume will be broadcasted on various media channels and the focus is on boys,” she said.

The play teaches about rape and sexual molestation. It was previously staged at the Mbombela Civic Centre and Dayizenza Plaza in 2019.

Mkhabela is not only a pretty soul, she is also an artist, poet, writer, storyteller, activist and fashion designer. She designs most of her outfits herself.

She draws inspiration from the likes of Ps Sarah Robert Jakes, Chimamande Ngozi Adichie, Oprah Winfery, Bonang Matheba and others. “My son is also my biggest inspiration. He makes me want to work harder. I will like to create a legacy for him, so he will be proud of me one day,” she explained. She also loves dancing and is fascinated by Makhadzi’s music.
