Following the advertising of traffic learnership posts, Mpumalanga  Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC,  Gabisile Shabalala, warned fraudsters not to take advantage of vulnerable, aspiring traffic learners by making them pay for learnerships.

The MEC is aware of the rumours doing the rounds that there are mischievous people who promise entry into traffic officer learnerships in exchange for money.

“We are once more appealing to young people not to fall prey to fraudsters, but to instead report such individuals to the police so that they are brought to book. Government jobs, learnerships and internships are not for sale,” said the MEC.

The MEC also called on the public to be wary of scammers who are constantly out to swindle people out of their hard-earned cash.

Shabalala added that such individuals take advantage of desperate young people who are unemployed.

“We must work together to bring these evil-doers to book. They must be arrested and face the full consequences of their actions,” stated the MEC.

Those who come across people asking for money in exchange for jobs should hesitate to report this to the police.
