Music workshop goes virtual

The fifth instalment of the Music Creative’s Workshop will be held under strict Covid-19 regulations.

This rapidly growing annual event is scheduled for Wednesday, November 25 at the award-winning Casambo Lodge, just outside the city. Founded by Mpumalanga’s own music genius, DJ Zoe and proudly supported by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) and the provincial Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation, this year’s episode will be a one-day event conducted virtually.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has hit the world with unprecedented and unexpected force, leaving almost every industry in shambles. This has also affected the music creative’s workshop.

“But not all hope is lost though, because the workshop will go ahead, but we will only be hosting it virtually, giving access to thousands. “The virtual conference will be held online on multiple social media platforms, affording participants access to be part of the workshop from anywhere in the world,” explained DJ Zoe. With NYDA coming on board as partners, DJ Zoe said they will provide free Wi-Fi access to those who will be part of the conference.

“NYDA will open its doors across the province to those who may need Wi-Fi access. Furthermore, we will be have remote viewing in Nkangala and Gert Sibande, with all Covid-19 rules and regulations in place,” confirmed DJ Zoe.

The workshop will focus on the versatility of the music and arts industry, as well as information sharing and capacity building of the talented youth of Mpumalanga.

The attending students are also granted an opportunity to showcase their musical talents with the help of some of the industry’s legends, DJ Ganyani, Afrotraction, Oskido, Thulisile Phongolo and Silkour, to name but a few.

“We started in 2017 with a DJ workshop, but soon increased the scope to accommodate all music creativity as a means to open doors to the youth of the province who have talent and skills that need to be nurtured and enhanced. “Our goal here is to help develop the young talent of the province,” she stressed.

The virtual conference will be from 08:00 to 16:00.
