Mpumelelo Secondary win five awards in JSE Challenge

The Mpumalanga-based school received high praise for emerging victorious in the 2020 JSEInvestment Challenge income portfolio category.

Learners from Mpumelelo Secondary School in the Nkalanga Region represented the province well when they pocketed five awards in the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) Investment Challenge virtual awards ceremony last Thursday.


The Mpumalanga-based school received high praise for emerging victorious in the 2020 JSEInvestment Challenge income portfolio category.

“For the first time, we had one school win all five prizes in one category,” said Idris Seedat, head of transformation and CSI at the JSE.
“The success of Mpumelelo Secondary School shows that challenging circumstances and lack of-
resources should have no bearing on one’s destiny in life,” he added.


Sizwe Mtsweni, a teacher at the school, said hard work and commitment from the 15 learners who participated in the competition saw them bring home trophies and certificates.

“Our learners won first place in the Queens category, second place in the Winners category, third place in the Mp Stars category, fourth place in Mp Unstoppable winners and the fourth place in the overall winners,” he said. –
“What is more important is the knowledge the learners gained in this exercise,” he said. –
