Mpumalanga Premier tests positive to Covid-19
Mtshweni-Tsipane has been in precautionary isolation since Sunday and will continue to monitor her health.
Yesterday, the premier of Mpumalanga Province, Refilwe Mtshweni-Tsipane, tested positive for Covid-19. According to the premier’s spokesperson, Sibongile Mkani-Mpolweni, Mtshweni-Tsipane developed flu-like symptoms on Sunday and undertook the test in an effort to establish the cause. The test came back positive.

Mtshweni-Tsipane has been in precautionary isolation since Sunday and will continue to monitor her health. She is reportedly in good spirits and only has mild symptoms. She will continue to execute her duties remotely.

As a precautionary measure, Mkani-Mpolweni said the premier has also communicated the news of her test results to all her contacts of the last seven days. “The premier has urged the people of Mpumalanga to take the necessary precautions to minimise the risk of infection. She further urged the people of the province to continue to wear their masks, keep a distance, disinfect surfaces frequently and wash or sanitise hands extensively,” concluded Mkani-Mpolweni.
